NATHAN AND JESSE

Music with a spirit of beauty, spontaneity, dance, and jazz improvisation!

From the city where they sun shines through the mist, Temecula, California, comes the jazzy folk duo Nathan & Jessie.

Born of the individuals, Nathan Rivera and Jessie Andra Smith, this duo is a unique blend of jazzy folk and blues on resonator guitars and accordion, along with interesting interplay between male and female vocals. Often joined on tour and on recordings by their friends, Trevor Mulvey on Upright Bass, and Blake Armstrong on Drums.

Their performances not only include unique all original music, but stories of their travels and interaction with the audience that make for an unforgettable experience. Love of sharing music has taken Nathan & Jessie all over the world, frequenting places like Mexico, Canada, France, New Orleans, and the Pacific Northwest.

The upbeat tunes they write reflect the cultural, emotional, and inspirational images of their life experience and are rooted in the spirit of jazz, improvisation, storytelling, language, and humor.

What people are saying about Nathan & Jessie:

"Definitely a must see duo !!Their music, energy and charisma are wonderful!"

"They are so multi-talented and spirit filled. Love when they sing in French and Spanish. Always a treat to hear."

"So all around amazing, lyrics, melody, voices, songs, so much fun to watch."

PETTY CHAVEZ

Petty Chavez is an indie folk songwriting duo whose music thrums as their intermingled voices and guitar coalesce into story and soundscape. With vibes both nostalgic and current, their songwriting is shaped equally by the misty greys of Simon Petty’s native England, Celia Chavez’s Pacific Northwest, and the sunlit gold of Southern California, where their musical paths first crossed.

Simon flew out west when a record deal drew British band Minibar from London to Los Angeles to record with producer T Bone Burnett, and later, Rami Jaffee. Once in the USA, Simon refined his signature mix of world-weary optimism and musical eclecticism on tour with Pete Yorn.

Celia brings her own brand of wistful lyricism to the duo. A genre-hopping vocal powerhouse — demonstrated by years as an arena-level backup singer to international artists (Enrique Iglesias, P!nk, Julia Fordham, Melody Gardot) — she embraces Simon’s sound with radiant translucence.

The duo live in West Los Angeles and work in their Santa Monica studio with their producer and fellow artist, Greg Johnson. A four-song EP — featuring the advance single, a reinvention of the Korgis’ Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime — is currently receiving finishing touches for Summer 2025 release, and promises to be as intimate as it is expansive.

JODI SIEGEL

Jodi Siegel, originally from Chicago, IL, is a singer, songwriter and guitarist. Over the years Jodi has opened for and or shared the stage with many respected musicians including: Albert King, Robben Ford, Robert Cray, J.D. Souther, David Lindley, Fred Tacket and Paul Barrere (Little Feat) and countless others. Her songs have been recorded by Maria Muldaur, Marcia Ball, Tommy Ridgley and Teresa James.

She has recorded two CD'S; Stepping Stone and her latest CD, “Wild Hearts,” produced by Steve Postell (Immediate Family, David Crosby, Eric Johnson, Robben Ford, Iain Matthews), is filled with great songs, cool grooves, intimate, smart lyrics and some of the best of the best musicians in Los Angeles today including; Mike Finnigan (organ, piano), Hutch Hutchinson, Abe Laborial Sr., Alphonso Johnson (bass), Russ Kunkel, Michael Jerome Moore, John Ferraro, Arno Lucas (drums, percussion), Joe Sublett (Saxophone) and Maxayne Lewis and Clydene Jackson (background vocals). Each song has a soulful delivery with an undeniable down-home elegance. It has received great reviews by Patrick Simmons (Doobie Brothers), Maria Muldaur, Walter Trout, David Mansfield (T Bone Burnett), Leland Sklar, Mike Finnigan and Doug Macleod to name a few.

Jodi is in the pre-production stage of recording a new record with Grammy winning producer/drummer (Taj Mahal) Tony Braunagel.

We’re thrilled to share that Simon and I will be supporting our dear friend Pi Jacobs as she hosts her annual “Pi Day” birthday show on Saturday, March 14 at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood CA. This is also significant for Petty Chavez because Hotel Cafe announced that they’ll be closing their Cahuenga Avenue location by the end of 2026. We’re grateful to be among the artists closing out this venue’s time here, as it’s been a solid home for so many performing songwriters for the past 25 years.

Wine and Song: hosted by Brad Colerick

Cindy Kalmenson shares the bill with us at this longstanding songwriter showcase in South Pasadena.

When LA singer-songwriter, Brad Colerick, signed on to host eight Wednesday night events in 2009, he had no idea what was in store. Word spread quickly about the great songs and stories being shared, and the impromptu performances from surprise guests each week. It quickly “bubbled into an inviting community hub for musicians, songwriters, wine-geeks and [music fans.…]” wrote Bliss Bowen of the Pasadena Weekly. Fifteen years, multiple venues, and a pandemic later, it's still going strong.
