Back in January, when our community was on fire and the direction of the country took a turn, Celia searched on the guitar for some comforting sounds. After a while, the chords became familiar, and she began singing the mantra-like lyrics of a song nearlly half a century old. We performed our arrangement of this song at a show at the end of January, and people in the audience were spellbound. “You HAVE to record that,” some said to us.

So we did.

This is a long-running songwriter series, curated by our friend Brad Colerick. On this night, the evening is being hosted by guest host David Plenn. Joining us on the bill is Paul Givant — a musician with strong roots in the Los Angeles area. He is the leader of the band Rose's Pawn Shop, known for its blend of folk, Americana, rock, and roots punk. Rose's Pawn Shop has released multiple studio albums and toured extensively. Givant will be promoting a soon-to-be-released solo project. His songwriting is lyrically sharp, witty, and intelligent and explores more personal themes that his RPS work. He has appeared previously at Wine & Song with his duo The Contraptionists with Stephen Andrews.
